Buchwaldoboletus sphaerocephalus is a species of bolete fungus characterized by its spherical to rounded cap, typically 2-6 cm in diameter, with a reddish-brown to brown color. The pore surface is yellow to olive-yellow, and the stem is slender, often curved, and has a reticulate pattern. In East and Central Texas, it is commonly found growing on the ground in association with oak trees, particularly live oak and post oak, during the fall season, from September to November. The fungus fruits singly or in small groups, and its distribution in this region appears to be widespread, although not abundantly common.
