Extract from Wikipedia article: Lactarius chelidonium is a member of the large milk-cap genus Lactarius in the order Russulales. It was first described by American mycologist Charles Horton Peck in 1870.
Lactarius chelidonium is a species of milk cap fungus that grows on the ground in association with oak trees. In East and Central Texas, it typically fruits from May to October, producing small to medium-sized caps that are yellow to orange-yellow in color, often with a wrinkled or pitted surface. The gills are crowded and pale yellow, and the spore print is white. The fungus has a mild to slightly bitter taste and a fruity or floral odor. It can be found in deciduous woods, particularly under live oak and post oak, in areas with rich soil and adequate moisture.
