Lactarius subplinthogalus is a species of mushroom that grows in association with oak trees. In East and Central Texas, it typically fruits from May to October, often in areas with rich soil and abundant leaf litter. The cap is 2-6 cm in diameter, grayish-brown to brown, and has a velvety texture. The gills are crowded and white to cream-colored, and the stem is 2-5 cm long and 0.5-1.5 cm thick. It has been found in various counties across East and Central Texas, including Brazos, Grimes, and Travis counties, often in wooded areas with Quercus stellata, Quercus buckleyi, or other oak species.
